Beeswax is a natural wax produced by young 12-17 day old honey bees in the form of thin scales.  Beeswax is used in the making of fine candles, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.  A German study found beeswax to be superior to similar "barrier creams" (usually mineral oil based creams, such as petroleum jelly).

Shea Butter is a natural fat extracted from the nuts of the Shea or Karite Tree, a plant growing wild in many parts of Africa.  The tree starts producing fruit when it reaches 20 years of age and can continue for up to 200 years.  Shea Butter is used in many high-end skin and hair care products.  It is often used to fade scars, soothe and moisturize severely dry or irritated skin, help prevent stretch marks and may lessen the discomfort of psoriasis.  Shea Butter is edible and is used as a cooking oil and sometimes serves as a substitute for cocoa butter in the making of chocolate.
